The Foundation’s annual dinner in October raised over $10,000 to help in advancing the efforts of the
organizations projects of FishWatch, Conservation & Outreach, Scholarship, & Habitat work.
Attendees enjoyed a lovely dinner prepared by Chef Crystal Platt, paired with Oregon wine.
A special thank you to Erica Landon, Walter Scott Wines, for arranging for donations from the following
Oregon wineries Brick House Vineyards, Cameron Vineyards, Goodfellow Family Wines, Rex Hill
Vineyards, William Hatcher & Walter Scott. The foundation appreciates their continued support of the
river.
Here is a recap of the Foundations activities for the past year:
::Fish Watch. Lee Spencer is finishing his 17th year protecting the wild steelhead in the Big Bend Pool aka
The Dynamite Hole.

::This year, our Scholarship recipient is Dave Tresky who will be receiving his BA degree at the end of fall
term at Oregon State in Environmental Sciences with a specialization in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences.

::We continue to collaborate with the USFS to improve Habitat and Access for wild fish, especially in the
Steamboat Creek area, with the replacement of old culverts and are proudly sponsoring Senator Ron
Wyden’s bill to establish the Frank Moore Wild Steelhead Sanctuary in the Steamboat Creek area.

::Our Conservation and Outreach included support for Project Healing Waters and the Douglas County
Warming Coalition talks.

Our most exciting project, through the combined efforts of Board member, Garry Kenny and Board
Advisor Dr. Michael Miller, is the design of a Fish DNA counting machine which is able to not only count
fish but also identify their genome.
